Perfect Timing
Last night, as I was going to sleep, I was planning today's blog because I had anticipated that my day would be hellacious. I was planning on writing a nice diatribe about Elie Wiesel in the first of my Nobel entries.
My body apparently had better plans for me.
This morning, while I was in the gross lab for what was supposed to be the first of six or seven hours today, it started: the aching minutely sore throat. When you've been around the illness block a few times, you know what that means: imminent feeling like shit.
So, I finished that lab session, went to lunch with my lab group and studied for a while. Then, I went to Rite Aid and bought no less than $27 worth of cold products. I mean business, dammit.
I truly cannot explain how bad of a time this is to get sick. The warm face, the shivery body, the unhungry stomach, the unconstrained desire for sleep--these things, I want no part of. If I do not study for huge chunks of time for the next [oh God! only] two days, my ass is up a particular creek. Medical school exam time is the unholiest of times to get sick. Particularly this test.
So, until then, plenty of Tylenol Cold and Emergen-C [flavor: raspberry ass] for me.
