Currently Obsessed With

The Arcade Fire is a band I started listening to in 2005, sometime after the release of their album Funeral. At the time, I listened to a few songs [Neighborhood #2, Une Annee Sans Lumiere], and I liked them, but I never really got into the whole album. Flash forward to, um, two months ago. My new [old] car has a cd player, the first of my cars to have such a feature! So, I did what any normal person would do--I burned all of the albums that I have collected since I got my iPod [also 2005] to cd, and I have been listening to them like a fiend. It struck me, a little over a month ago, that the Arcade Fire would be some pretty good studying music, so I started listening to Funeral while making study sheets. And I love it. While I appreciated the aforementioned songs in isolation before, I really really like the entire album now.

As much as I enjoy the album in entirety, however, I do have a huge love for this song. It's so upbeat and catchy, and has been perfect for the weather this week. It's great for walking to school in the morning or for listening to with the windows down as I go over one of many bridges where I live. Last night, I found this video for it, and I think the artistic direction is impeccable. I love the little details--how the video tells a story, the way the violinist moves when he plays, and the detail on the beating drum.

I give it a ten! A ten! A motherfucking ten!
