"What does 'soup to nuts' mean anyway?"

"I think it means from start to finish. You know, like soup at the beginning. And nuts...well, I don't really know. Maybe with cocktails?"

"Maybe it should be 'soup to cheese.' Doesn't cheese come last?"

"Maybe if you're French. If you're me, it's more like 'soup to eating Ben and Jerry's out of the carton.' Or 'soup to guilt.'"

"Or 'soup to falling asleep in front of the tv.'"
