So, I'm back. I've missed this space--I missed the contact with people this space afforded me--and I am so excited to be here once again. There have been days when I've missed blogging so acutely, it hurt. There have been days when I haven't missed it at all, when I considered not coming back. But the number of the former outnumber those of the latter--so I return.

A year ago, I wrote: "In one more year, I will have a different story to tell. Joey will be living with me. My first two years of medical school--and boards--will be over, and I will be starting grad school. Life will be different and new, and with that, the time will be ripe for another story to begin."

I was right, of course. As is typical, in more ways than I knew at the time. Although I thought I would be able to project myself into the future and imagine myself here, I was [also typically] wrong. But not in a bad way. Life, in its current (always malleable) iteration, is charming. I'm quite taken with it, most days. Sure, there are days when I realize a) the rent check bounced due to personal clerical error and b) my pants have split in the high-thigh-inseam before c) 9:30 AM on a day when d) I'll be gone from home until 8 PM. But there are also days when a) we all ride in Joe's car singing b) songs from his American Bandstand cd collection between c) a topshelf margarita he ordered and pushed toward me and d) a terrible movie and a bucket of Newcastle shared between Jacob, Joey, and me. In this case, the latter outweigh the former.

Although I had huge plans to start back with an epic post, I don't really think it's necessary. Maybe because I've spent the better part of the day [er...last two weeks] coding here--I had one template pretty much up and running, but eventually [after hours of work] discarded it because it was unnecessarily difficult. But I'm pleased with the final turnout, and with some new features. As if this were some DVD boxed set.

These features include:

1) A separate "About" page. Disappointingly enough, it currently says all the same things the previous "About" section said. But I plan on changing that soon.

2) A page with all my past headers. I design all of my headers, and I enjoy flipping back through them, so I thought I would post them. I think it's fun to see how they've evolved since this blog's inception.

3) An Another Chance To Get It Right Tumblog. Inspired by Sweet Juniper's dedication to post some form of new content every day, I thought a tumblog would be a good place to post videos, pictures, quotes--so if you don't see a new post here on any given day, try there. I'll try to update one or the other each day.

So, there you have it. In the coming week, I'll be catching the interwebs up on some of my doings/happenings since last year. There are exciting things [Passing Step 1], there are sad things [the unexpected death of a very dear friend], there are lists [of books, etc] that I've discovered lately. In the future, I anticipate having some exciting news [related to blogging] to share. So--for now, I'm merely glad to be back. Let's get this [freak]show back on the road.
